PlayTime is a two-week, in-house laboratory retreat for five New Dramatists resident playwrights undertaking ambitious new works with collaborators and in company of one another. This huge, interdependent project with an intricate schedule offers intensive and flexible time for rehearsal, rewrites, feedback, and company engagement. This November, Ken was one of five playwrights selected to develop new projects. Ken worked on The Absence of Weather, his new three-hour play about the life and death of James Forrestal, the first U.S. Secretary of Defense and mastermind of the Cold War. Details here

Ken Urban Wins 2024 Blue Ink Award

As part of the award, Urban receives a $3,000 cash prize, a staged reading directed by Artistic Affiliate Dexter Bullard at American Blues Theater, and the opportunity to further develop his script with our artists.
